Quick Computer Recipes

Quick Computer Recipes

One of the most difficult things about using technology in the classroom is the constant barrage of questions. This post is not so much an article as it is a resource which I have created to help with this aspect of technology in the classroom.

What the Quick Computer Recipes are is a set of - literally - recipe cards that offer quick tips, advice, and how-to's. These can be printed on any paper and cut out, or on large recipe cards, and placed in a recipe box. This way, the recipes can be flipped through and an immediate answer provided. Placing one of these at each computer, or at the beginning of a row in the computer lab, will enable students to look up answers to some of their questions. Empowering a student with the tools they need to learn their own answers instills a strong sense of self-confidence in their ability to use the computer.

Some of the hints and recipes are geared more toward the adult user, but you can quickly decide which recipes you want to include in your student's recipe box.

The kit is divided into Internet Tips, Hardware Tips, Windows Tips, Email Tips, and Storage Tips. Using these divisions, you can categorize the box to make searching even easier.

This page will be updated as more installments are added. Please check back to download the latest update.

The Recipes

Installment One: 31 recipe cards in the categories of Internet Tips, Hardware Tips, Windows Tips, Email Tips, and Storage Tips.
