Opening the Garden to the Joy of Autumn Leaves and Winter flowers

Let me hasten to reassure anybody who would hesitate to come and enjoy our garden and put me through all this agony; the twinges in the back and the thorns in the limbs and the personality changes are absolutely worth it. When I overhear someone saying "It is simply beautiful," "It is so peaceful" and especially when I share garden stories or stand with pleasure and awe in front of that difficult plant that has done the right thing and flowered for the first time the day before we open our garden gate to the public, I have one green thumb in Paradise.

I had hoped to tell you some amusing stories of our many Open Garden Days. I will continue the theme in my next article, in two weeks time. In the mean time, here are some photos of the gardens during the Autumn time that you would be seeing if you could come to one of our Open Garden Days. At least you may ask me the name of the flower or tree there is no instant amnesia when the garden books are close at hand!

Is there any plants you want identified?

Have you experienced Open Garden Days?

Do you think your neighbourhood could introduce an Open Garden Festival?

Have you found the photo of the mystery flower? This is a challenge, I know the answer!
