Garden, Conservation, Red Tape

We hired a local chap to clear the area and to build a fence around the two and a half acres and Kees wrote his submission which was accepted. Then the correspondence started - the area was to be inspected by Department officials quite frequently and we were required to plant another similar area in two years time. In the end Kees and I thought our Greenie effort was getting out of hand so we informed the Department that we would rather forget the submission but asked if they could help us get the five thousand seedling Blackwood trees. I really could not see myself going to a native specialist nursery and asking for five thousand trees. It was not until the crates of the Blackwood seedlings were sitting on our driveway of the Town Home that I had any conception of how many trees we had to plant. Kees and I looked in amazement at all those tiny plants. An S.O.S. went out to the family and one son, Matthew, answered our desperate call. My niece Carol and her husband Chris, who were very interested in gardening and liked to join us down at Middleton for the weekend, also responded. A long weekend was coming up, so we arranged for the planting day to fall in that weekend. PART TWO tells how we planted the Blackwoods and naughty Gay What would you like to do this month while waiting to download the Spring photos? Wash the dog?
