The Falling Days of Autumn

I did so hope for a great show this year because last weekend I was the tutor to a class of adult educations students who visited the garden and after a cup of tea or coffee, for two hours we discussed Autumn time in our gardens. Although the Autumn garden has looked better [It never is when you open it to visitors in any season!] and the birds had eaten most of the Fall berries, we had a great time and I certainly enjoyed myself. This is only the second time I have conducted such a class. The first time there were only lady gardeners who attended but this time there were five gentlemen among the fourteen co-gardeners. Fourteen is all I am able to seat in the sitting room which looked, as one of the men exclaimed when he walked in, "like a class room!"

My SuiteU course, entitled "The Lives and Loves of Women Gardeners" has never had a a male participant. Perhaps I should have entitled it "The Loves and Lives of Gardeners". After all, the dirt engrained in our hands and under our finger nails looks exactly the same, no matter what our gender! Any gentlemen who are browsing here, may like to have a look at the fascinating lives of famous gardening folk

Many times I am asked "What is your favourite flower?" Or, "What is your favourite season?" How can I answer questions like that? It is as if someone wants you to tell them your favourite child. The only answer I am able to give is "Whichever looks the best right now. Whoever is behaving themselves today!"

I made a list of a few of my favourite fall trees to hand out at the Adult Education course. Do take a look

Here are my phots for this month of May in the Southern Hemisphere. Let us roll in the Fall leaves as we did in our childhood days

First the flowers in the town garden

And now we will hop in our car and visit the country garden

And more photos. If you are sick of them skip them!
