Summer Garden Story

"Oh! I had to look at some of the gardens before I came in. It was so refreshing. I am now going to look at the rest of the garden. I am going home full of ideas. I only have a small allotment but feel invigorated to make some changes."

And there was the lesson for me. The lady was 89 years old!

She had brought some big red plumbs to give to us. Funny plumbs, very sweet for most bites and then quite tart at the end!

So now I must go out to the garden and start to move the bed of Iris into the new bed we prepared quite a while ago. The old bed, created in a position to give the Iris sun shine, was a square with four so called miniature column conifers marking the corners. The 'small' trees have grown so thick the Iris are now in shade and refused to flower properly this year. It is also time to divide them too. We will cut off damaged places in their rhizomes, cut them into pieces [making sure the pieces have healthy looking roots] and plant them in full sun again.

I feel quite excited, I now have to think what I will place in the middle of the square and maybe have an excuse to visit a nursery!

Lots of photos, be patient!
