So, you'd like even more Tasmanian place names? I hope you're game! We'll start today with colour names which include Auburn, Black Creek, Black Hills, Black River, Blackmans Bay, Blackstone Heights, Blackwall, Blackwood Creek, Blue Rocks, Red Hills, Redpa, Blumont, Cornelian Bay, Golden Fleece Rivulet, Albion Heights, Golden Valley, White Beach, White Hills, Whitefoord, Whitemark, Whitemore and Grey (the wettest town in Tasmania).

Next we come to the sinister connection... see what you make of these!

Deddington (ouch), Detention (didn't do it, honest!), Devils Gate (a bad film?), Cramps Bay (groan), Battery Point (with added assault?), Brandum (Ow!), Squeaking Point (eek), Ouse (ick), Burnie (ouch) and Lune River (awoooo!).

If you thought they were creepy, try Lynchford, and Hellyer, Gunns Plains, Savage River, Chasm Creek, Copping and Killiecrankie, Killora and Needles!

Finally there are - Styx, Sulphur, Sulphur Creek, Tower Hill, Tunnel, Tomahawk, and Tooms Lake...

I hasten to add that these places are all *lovely*. The people are *sweet*. They won't be offended by this at all... I hope!

Now, just to balance the books, here are some charmers that sound like paradise... Goodwood, Friendly Beaches, Plenty, Cooee (which means Hello, where are you?), Kindred, Lovely Banks, Promised Land, Golden Valley, Prospect, Prospect Vale, Summerdale, Summerhill, Sunnyside, Bothwell, Beauty Point, Blessington, Pretty Plains, Blythe Heads and Paradise itself.

What could be nicer than those?

Now some rose names - Rose Bay, Rosebery, Rosegarland, Roses Tier, Rosevale, Rosevears, Rosny, Primrose and Primrose Sands.

Next there's the clerical connection of Priory, Abbotsford and Bishopsbourne and the aristocratic collection of Castle Forbes Bay, King Island, Kings Meadows, Kingston, Lady Barron, Queens Domain, Tiberias, Queenstown, Royal George, Princess River, King River and Queen River.

And here come some names you're bound to know, because they're all famed for various reasons in their original settings or remind you of something else.

Albion Heights, Avoca, Bagdad, Bangor, Ben Lomond, Cornwall, Devonport, Dover, Brighton, Exeter, Firthside, Perth, Falmouth, Louisville, London Lakes, Middlesex, Goshen, Gladstone, Flintstone, Aberdeen, Forcett, Gretna, Guildford (for Monica Edwards readers), Herrick, Stonehenge, Somerset, Punchbowl, Nile, Lindisfarne, Derby, Cambridge, Jericho, Richmond, Richmond Hill, Runnymede, Eddystone Point, Shannon, Sheffield, Surrey Hills, Tinderbox, Wiltshire, Windermere.

Hermitage, Bachelors Flat and Sister's Creek have something in common, as do Catamaran, Boat Harbour, and Boat Harbour Beach.

Had enough? If not, come back next week for the final word on the placenames of Tasmania.

I don't think I'd like to live in Grey - we get enough rain where I live.

I really like your sense of humor on these, Ally. I'll look forward to the next one. ...
