Meditation Tips from Unexpected Sources Part One: EminZen?© Elizabeth Bissette Because it awakens the subconscious, meditation can greatly increase your intuition. Once you've got those intuitive juices flowing, you'll be able to deliver more accurate information in your readings. You can also benefit from meditating on single cards. This method can be used for both soul-searching and for gaining a deeper, more personal understanding of the cards. Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, mystical Judaism (Kabbalah) and, to some extent, Catholicism (which experienced a strong surge of mysticism during the Middle Ages), place a great deal of importance on meditation. In Zen Buddhism, Taoism and Hinduism, the goal of meditation is the loss of ego or self in something beyond self. By doing this, practitioners become one with (or aware of existing oneness with) the universe, the higher self or the moment. This higher consciousness is called Zen. In his song, "Lose Yourself" (8 Mile Soundtrack ), Eminem describes overcoming stage fright by giving up the part of himself that is conscious of it. He does this by placing all of his being, all of his focus, on the music and the moment. "You better lose yourself in the music, the moment, you own it, you better never let it go." he repeats throughout the song. He expresses a similar idea in "Sing For the Moment", ( Go To Page: 1 2
