He flies through the air and touches Daniel, delivering a prophecy of the "seventy weeks" of years which elapse before the coming of Christ. foretells the birth of the Precursor to Zachary and announces the conception of Jesus to Mary. The roles assigned to Gabriel in Jewish tradition are: Angel of Judgment, Guardian of Paradise, destroyer of Sodom, the Angel who places the mark of Tau on the foreheads of the elect. The roles assigned to Gabriel in Christian tradition are: Angel of the Annunciation, comforter of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemene, sounder of the trumpet that calls the living and the dead to face the Last Judgment. In Islamic tradition, Gabriel is the Angel who dictated the Koran to Mohammed. In Islam, he is called the Angel of Truth and is considered Chief of the Four Favored Angels.
