Tarot In the Modern WorldThe Thoth was based upon Aleister Crowley's vision of a new Aeon, and when that Aeon is over his deck will become invalid. If you look closely, you can see the build up of war within the swords, as Lady Harris was creating the deck. Russia joined W.W.II just as she finished it. This is a wonderful and valid deck but it lacks the timelessness of decks like the RWS, which is based on human nature. Though it can make one wonder what people are thinking when creating some decks, I agree that it's better to have access to decks from many perspectives than just one deck from a single perspective. But, I can also see that tarot deck development can be taken too far with businesses creating decks just to make a profit and appealing to the curiosity of tarot readers who will try anything to find the perfect deck for them. So yes, find the deck that fits your own individual symbolism; create one if you want. How boring would life be if we all saw things the same way? In the end, if we accept that no deck will be perfect for all. We can recognize that even decks not based on spirituality can exist in order for others to see the tarot for what it is-a tool for learning and understanding your inner-self, and so much more than a way for Gypsies to tell fortunes.
