For more than a decade, May 25th, the birthday of tap legend Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, has been celebrated as National Tap Day.

Since President Bush signed the commemorative bill in 1989 , tap dancers around the world have gathered each May to pay tribute to a uniquely American art form. (See the legislation here: http://www.tapdance.org/tap/tapday.htm#T...

It's not too late to get involved. If you don't see your city below, check on the Internet or call some studios in your area. Still nothing? Plan something yourself-host a mini film festival, get people together for a tap jam, or finally sign up for that summer workshop.

Tapping For Change! Includes children's tap classes (12:00-2:00 at the Orange County Dance Center in Huntington Beach), an Open Mic Jam (3:30-5:30 at the Amphitheater at Marina High School in Huntington Beach), and a performance by the Sound Effects Tap Company (6:00-7:30, at the Amphitheater). Dedicated to Sierra Light Foundation. Free, but donations are requested. Money goes to keeping community's play areas safe.
