First of all, the arch-wise gnome was missing. Nobody knows where he was or what happened to him. They tried to search for him, but still couldn't find him. Then, it came time for Fatticat Largeone to lead the ceremony that Sometimes Eatalot, the arch-wise gnome was to lead. Fatticat wasn't sure he could do the ceremony.
Next, came the second mystery. The book that Fatticat was to read from was missing. Nobody knew where it was.
Finally, the first part ended with Sometimes Eatalot being found. Also, the author revealed why Sometimes Eatalot was missing. He wanted to see if Fatticat would be able to take his place. Fatticat proved that he could.
When I came to the end of the first part, it almost seemed like the book was going to end, but I knew it wasn't since there was still several chapters left. I kept wanting to read it to find out what was going to happen.
Now for the second part. More clues start to appear as well as suspense. When Fatticat and Ima searched through the unfinished papers in Sometimes Eatalot's office, they began to uncover something shocking about Sometimes Eatalot. Fatticat and Ima learned that Sometimes Eatalot was not doing what he should. They discovered he was a crook, or was he? They were surprised about the things they found. Later on, they discovered a ransom note, and that Sometimes Eatalot had been kidnapped again.
Since he had been kidnapped again, the gnomes had to figure out a way to pay the ransom. Suspense begins to arise during the gnomes search for the place to deliver the ransom. They weren't sure where the place was.
However, as a result of having to deliver the ransom money, they entered an area where they hadn't gone before. It was down Main Street. They continued their walk down Main Street and stopped in front of the Sheriff's office. Since the sheriff was missing and had been for 80 years, they knew the door would be locked, or was it? They tried the door and were shocked when it was unlocked.
