There are many useful surf travel books available today. Surf camps are popping up at every world class surf break in the world. With a little time, a little planning, and a little money, you can be surfing those waves you drool over in the magazines.
The best way to plan a trip is to consult the experts. One of the best in the business is called The Surf Travel Co., an Australian based company totally equiped to handle your travel needs from where they are. Through them you can charter yatchs to Timor, West Java, the Mentawai Islands and Indonesia; you can book cottages in Nias, Bali, South Africa, or Fiji; and you can attend surf camps in the Phillipines, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Mexico and Australia. They offer so many insane destinations, you just have to see it to believe it. Just glancing at their literature will make your stomach suck up into your guts like you're dropping into a gaping pit. Another great surf adventure company is called WaterWays Surf Adventrues. Waterways books trips to Tahiti, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Maldives, Bali (G-Land), Indonesia, and the Mentawai's. They offer less destinations than The Surf Travel Co. but they also have better package deals. Through them you can take care of just about everything (except where to get the money to pay for it). They'll book your boat, set up accomadations, sign you up for camps, arrange your plane tickets and give you plenty of good advice on what to pack, and what to expect. For inexperienced travellers, booking with a surf travel company is a great way to focus your adventure and plan for a few hitches as possible. You're sure to have enough adventures, even with everything planned to the last detail. After you travel under their guidance, the world will start to seem pretty small. Your travel skills will improve and you'll soon be ready to start mapping out your own world adventures.
