For Women, By Women

First, don't let the name, Sober Dykes Hope Page keep you from visiting this site. It has a lot to offer all woman.

For the woman addict, to be able connect with other women who have "been down the path of recovery... sometimes more than once.. and we understand, as few can, the loneliness, the pain and, the challenges facing women who have had to wrestle with alcohol and drugs" can have a profound effect on their recovery. For me, it led to one of those psyic changes Bill W. talks about in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.

"As women we have issues that our brothers in recovery don't." Here you will find information, meditations and email lists for women in recovery . They even have their own Yahoo style search engine if you are looking for information on a specific women's issue.

The Information on Other Recovery Issues page has information on Adult Children of Alcoholics, Codependency, and Boundaries. If you are looking for information on Dual Diagnosis you will find definitions, suggested reading about the subject and on-line Dual Diagnosis Meetings. This page could also be a place to point your therapist for suggested readings. There is even a discussion of whether a person taking a psychotropic drug (like paxil or zoloft) is clean and sober or not.

If your are in crisis, there is the Hotline Page where you can leave your name and e-mail address for a response within 24 hours. While you are waiting, you can access their online community.

They even have their own web ring. Check out member Rainbows From Rainyday to read her personal story and about steps 1 and 3. Step 2 seems to be missing. ;-)

While visiting Suzanne's you can read some AA history and listen to Bill and Dr. Bob.

Here are some other Women's sites to visit: Sober Lady has written about how the "Fear of Fear" story in the Big Book touched her life.

Maimu works the 12 steps following the Pagan Path. With many years clean and sober experiences under her belt she has a lot to say both about the program of Alcoholics Anonymous and the fellowship. {The program being the first 164 pages of the Big book and the fellowship being the people who attend 12 step meetings.}

And finally, at Jami's Journey Into Recovery you can find a copy of Alcohol's Disastrous Promise. And, (count 'em) 252 AA Slogans
