The Center is offering a two-day course, Leading with Stories , designed to help executives in business, non-profit management, and government administration learn how to use storytelling to enhance their leadership and management skills. Based on the belief that stories are a powerful teaching tool, the Center is developing Teaching with Stories - a three-day course, to be launched in June, that will instruct teachers how to use storytelling to enhance their teaching and learning in the classroom. Plans for the coming year include exploring other initiatives - using storytelling in healthcare, with the clergy, and in conflict transformation and peace building.
Storytelling has an exciting time ahead and especially in 2002. As you realize by now, this coming year may not be the easiest year for any of us, but it can become the best year ever if we all use the power of storytelling. I have said it before, and I will say it again and again, "When we know someone's story, we can't help but like them." There is no better way to make friendships and bridge relationships than through the sharing of our stories. Remember, you don't need to be a professional storyteller to tell a good story, and listening to others' stories is even more fun.
Have a Happy STORYTELLING New Year all Year!
