Collectible Sting


Following is a resource guide for buying and selling collectibles. Click on "Links" at the top right of this page for other resources, and remember the golden rule of collecting: do your homework before buying anything.


Collector's word list:

7": Vinyl single (diameter is 7 inches) also known as a standard "45" because it's played at 45 rpm /

12": Vinyl album or special mix (diameter is 12 inches), usually 3 or 4 songs, commonly played at 33 rpm /

acetate CD: A test pressing of a forthcoming release. Usually packaged in a plain plastic sleeve with little or no artwork. /

bootleg: Live recording, usually captured by fans. Quality varies. Possibly illegal. Frowned upon by Sting and/or Sting's management. /

digipack, fold-out digipack CDs: A soft CD case, containing a plastic tray glued to cardboard cover. /

EP: Extended Play record (12"), with more tracks than a single but fewer than an LP, usually played at 33 rpm. /

jewel case: Your garden variety CD case, standard or slimline. /

LP: Long Play, a standard vinyl album. Also used to describe the album on CD. /

promo: product used for radio play or sent to music reviewers to promote the new single/album.
