STEPFATHERS: PART ONE

    • With the stepchildren or biological ones are adolescents when the blended family is formed, they already have developed many of their habits and characteristics. This can present a major challenge to a stepfather. Joseph Cerquone brings first-hand knowledge and some humor to his article, Stepfathering Adolescents: It Takes Patience, Flexibility and Humor.

    At Positive Steps, there is an interesting section for stepfathers. There also are links, and short articles (including a survey).

    For support, friendship, and encouragement, stepfathers are encouraged to visit the Stepfathers Bulletin Board. Other useful information is available at the Divorced Dads' Site at Letters From Stepparents. The letters offer problems and solutions, support, and some humor.

    Reading some of the men's comments indicates that after the initial adjustments are made, being a stepfather can be one of the most rewarding experience in a man's life, and many grown children tell of strong and meaningful bonds with their stepfathers.
