Summary:

After a prob returns pictures from a new planet, Dr. Jackson makes a discovery. He finds that the language displayed in the images are the same as those found of Ernest's planet, where the four powerful aliens races would met. He thinks that this planet belongs to the Asgard race or beings and they might prove to be a powerful ally if they can contact them.

So in search of allies in their battle against the Goa'ulds, SG-1 travel to the planet in hopes of meeting the Asgard. As soon as they arrive they are greeted strangly by the locals who point and laugh at them. It turns out that many years ago the planet has been declared off-limits to Goa'ulds. When the team arrived, Teal'c, who as a Jaffa carries an infant Goa'uld within him, is trapped in a mysterious beam of light coming from a large hammer shaped device. When Teal'c screams out in the pain O'Neill tries to save him, but both men vanish, transported to a mysterious underground labyrinth.

The labyrinth is home to Unas, a vicious creature that is the original Goa'uld host. That has been trapped by in the underground caves, for Thor's Hammer is designed to kill Goa'ulds and free it's captured host. As O'Neill and Teal'c fight for survival, Dr. Jackson and Maj. Carter try to rescue them, aided by Kendra, a former Goa'uld host who survived her own journey through the labyrinth years earlier.

Review:

I really like this episode for a couple of reasons. One we get to see for the first real time that the host to the Goa'uld do surive being taken over and that there is hope for others. We also get a further look at what the Goa'uld used before human host and perhaps why the Unas are no longer used. We also get a small glimpse at the powerful technology of the Asgard and their true intentions against the Goa'uld and they may indeed be a ally to Earth and it's fight.

A greata ep that really expands on the whole Sg-1 universe as aa whole and offers a starting point for what whould become series stables.
