Summery:

Colonel Jack O'Neill and the SG-1 team are sent through the Stargate after SG-9 who is declared missing in action. When SG-1 arrives on the planet, they learn from a member of SG-9 that the primitive cave-dwelling inhabitants greeted SG-9 as gods because they carried guns and used powerful sunscreen which allowed them to survive the deadly UV rays. This situation was further complicated when SG-9's anthropologist decided for the sake of the mission to allow the native people think of them as Gods.

The problem is that SG-9 leader Capt. Jonas Hanson has taken advantage of this opportunity and believing that he was in fact their God Hanson took rule of the planet. Without mercy and forcing the inhabitants to work during the deadly days rebuilding the giant Goa'uld temples and condemning disbelievers to death by radiation exposure. It was up to SG-1 to stop this man who had already killed most of his team and tried to kill another plus all the countless natives of the planet.

Dr. Samantha Carter, who at was time engaged to Hanson, thinks she can reach him and help defuse the situation. O'Neill is prepared to fight his way into Hanson's compound to save the now captured Conner, one of the surviving SG-9 team members. But, Daniel Jackson and Teal'c may have the best solution; with the help of Jamala, one of the planet's inhabitants, they set out to show the people of the planet that Hanson's power comes from technology - - not divinity. They set out to reactivating a Goa'uld force shield that once covered the planet protecting it from the harmful rays of the sun and save the people from not only the radiation but from the deadly rule of Hanson.

Review:

This episode while being a little on the typical side with the whole "power hungry" , guy gone bad thing there was some good to it. We got to see a nice and expanded side of Carter that shed some light on her life prior to join Sg-1. Not only that but other emotional and moral issue that she deals with is done well and is good to see. On whole not a bad story with the Carter moments being the stand out in what might be an otherwise typical plot line.
