Summary:

After an unusually rocky trip through the gate SG-1 land on a world where the local people are reminiscent of Earth's Amish society in their clothing and manners. They soon find however that this is an Asgard protected world, with it being protected and worshiped by the Asgard Freyr.

They meet the local spiritual leader Elrad upon their arrival and explain that they are travelers from a place called Earth (a.k.a. Midgard) and that they are friends to the gods and to Thor and Freyr. The locals then take them to their village where another of people spiritual leaders Malachus meets them with a less than warm reception. Elrad tells them not to pay to much attention to Malachus and that he gladly welcomes the elves (sg-1) of Freyr and hopes they bring good tidings.

While Sg-1 is talking with Elrad the sky suddenly turns red and Malachus rushes in a blames Sg-1 for bringing this upon their planet. As it turns out Sg-1 did cause the sky to turn red which resulted from Sg-1 passing through the planets sun when they gated to planet. As they passed through the sun they dragged a piece of plutonium with them which boned with the planets sun and caused it to shift to the red spectrum of light.

In an attempt to help save the planet and all it's people O'Neill, Daniel & Carter attempt to contact the Asgard protector of the planet Freyr. They head to the local church, which houses an Asgard device, much like Thor's hammer on Cimmeria, another Asgard protected world. They manage to contact Freyr and explain the situation to him, how Sg-1 override some of the safety protocols built into the gate in-order for them to lock onto the planet, thus leading to the current situation. Freyr tells them that he can not make the decision himself but it is the joint decision of the Asgard High Counsel.

O'Neill meets with them to make his case and ask for help in saving the people of the planet K'Tau. The Counsel of the Asgard reaffirm Freyr position and tells them that they can not help the people of K'Tau and help prevent their deaths. O'Neill finds out that the reason the Asgard will not help SG-1 or the people of K'Tau is because of the treaty they signed with the Goa'uld to protect the planet. That if the Asgard help them with any technology in the face of a natural disaster it would violate the treaty and leave any and all planets protected by the Asgard open to invasion by the Goa'uld including K'Tau and Earth.
