Stargate Sg-1 Guide : Main Characters

This is a guide to the main characters that make up the cast of the show.

Col. Jack O’Neill , U.S.AF. :

Col. O’Neill is the leader of the flagship team sg-1. He was head of the first stargate mission to the planet Abydos and was then brought out of retirement from that mission to head the new team sg-1.

He was married and is now divorced from his wife Sara to whom he was married to for over seven years. The marriage came to end when just before his first trip through the gate Jack’s son was killed in an accident involving O’Neill’s gun.

O’Neill has had long service with the U.S.A.F with most of his work over the past ten years being highly classified. He has been imprisoned on several occasions and has had a bout with drug addiction.

He is from Chicago and is an avid outdoorsman with a particular fondness for fishing.

Maj. Samantha Carter , U.S. A. F :

Cater did not get assigned to the gate project until after the first mission and the formation of the S.G.C , even though she was working on making the gate work two years prior to the first mission.

She was transferred from the Pentagon to the S.G.C and assigned to Sg- 1 much to the disliking of Col. O’Neill.

She is a scientist with a PHD in Theoretical Astrophysics , making her the expert on most of the gate technology and the gate itself.

She is an accomplished pilot having flown in Desert Storm and is skilled at hand to hand combat.

Her father is a general in the U.S.A.F and has since joined the S.G.C in the form of a bridge between the alien race Tok’ra and the S.G.C by becoming a host to one of their kind thus saving himself from terminal cancer.

She has a brother named Mark whom she was estranged from for a long time due to the accidental death of their mother in a car accident.

Dr. Daniel Jackson :

He has P.H.D in archaeological is the historical and cultural expert of the S.G.C and is used many times to help with the various alien races they encounter.

He was one of the civilians assigned to sg-1 and is also the one who figured out how to make the gate work and go through on the first mission. He was given the chance to work on the stargate project due to his wild theories which got he ousted from the archaeological community. He believed that the pyramids were landing platform for alien ships and his theory about the cross pollination of different cultures on Earth.
