My Five Favorite Star Wars Websites

© Shelly G. Hemig

I was looking at my ever-increasing list of links the other day, trying to decide which to include in the five that show up on the Welcome page. It's a tough decision. I try to rotate most of the links onto the Welcome page, but some make it much more frequently than others. I'd like to share with you why that is.

Number 5

Evan's Star Wars Cinema http://evanmather.com/ I know not all of this person's films are Star Wars-themed, but I really like his style. I've only watched the ones that included Star Wars characters, but now that I have high-speed Internet access, I'm looking forward to seeing all the rest. You can choose to watch "Godzilla vs. Disco Lando," where a boxing Godzilla wreaks havoc on the Cloud City leaving it up to Lando and Obi-Wan to save the day while disco music plays in the background. Or how about "Quentin Tarantino's Star Wars," interspersing scenes from Star Wars ANH with scenes from Pulp Fiction, using Star Wars characters and a few rather disturbing images. I think my favorite, though, is "Kung Fu Kenobi's Big Adventure," where Kenobi takes on all comers in Jabba's palace, while Luke does a little dance in Leia's costume from ROTJ. This guy has a huge imagination and a lot of time on his hands.

Number 4

Return of the Force, Force Quiz http://www.mrshowbiz.go.com/features/pha... Hidden within the Mr. Showbiz site is this little gem that I've greatly enjoyed. There are actually four quizzes--one for each of the movies. Also, they were created prior to last year's release of TPM, so that quiz includes a disclaimer which states there are no questions about the actual plot of the movie. Even though this site and these quizzes have not been updated, I had a lot of fun trying them out. The questions rotate, and they are not easy. Especially the TPM questions, since they focus on pre-production and don't touch on the story at all. I only hope he will update the site with a new TPM quiz. But maybe he'll wait a year and a half until Episode II is released, so he can add a fifth quiz. Check it out, and good luck!

Number 3

Bantha Tracks http://www.banthatracks.com/ Anything that interests you about Star Wars, this site can direct you to a link. You want to know about the characters? Click on "Characters" under the heading "Knowledge" and you're shown 26 possibilities, from Anakin to Yoda, each with one or more links. Also, there are more links below those--75 in this case--which include such sites as "Aunt Beru's Place," "Yub, yub, Commander!" and "Amidala Maul's Star Wars Bad Guys Page." Each of these links indicates by icons whether the site is international, includes video, or has sounds, graphics or additional links. Many are also rated. For those which aren't, there's a place for visitors to rate them. And that's all just one small category among many. You can choose to browse through the categories or do a direct search. Regardless, you're sure to find something useful among this extensive list of links.

Wow! Thanks, Tricia! I appreciate the feedback. I'll have to wrack my brain and come up with another poll. :)
