Happy holidays, folks! I'm busy holidaying so here's a reprint
of an early article to tide you through the end of the year.
Enjoy!
Suffering from DS9 withdrawal yet? There is help for this plight. Here are some things you can do to ease the loss of the late, great Deep Space Nine. 1. Pull out your tapes and hold a DS9 video party at your house. Invite not only fellow fans, but also non-fans to enjoy hours of entertainment at its very finest. Do not let the non-fans leave they've seen the error of their ways and converted to the worship of the best darn Trek show ever. 2. Build an online shrine to DS9. Include pictures, character bios, actor bios, show history, episode summaries, humour, sound bites, and a lot of love. Then please send me the URL so I may add your site to the list of best sites. 3. Read a DS9 story. Best of luck finding a decent DS9 novel, though granted there are a few. You'll undoubtedly have better luck finding good DS9 stories in the fan fiction arena, though granted not all of it is good. There are not only more stories to be found in fan fiction form than novel, but the best part about fan fiction is it's free! Follow the Star Trek creative newsgroups for the latest stories. Happy hunting! 4. Write a DS9 story. Got a good idea? Think you can write a story from it? Go for it! Fan fiction addicts need their fixes and will love you for providing them with one. Post your story somewhere in your newly created shrine. Or post it to one of the fan fiction newsgroups--just make sure to read the group's FAQ and posting rules to make sure you submit your story correctly. 5. Watch Stargate SG-1 on Showtime. What's this got to do with DS9, you ask? Absolutely nothing! But it's a pretty good show, and I personally find I miss DS9 a little less when I'm watching Stargate SG-1. This may work for other DS9 fans also. If not, then return to idea #1. 6. Join a DS9 online community--message board, mailing list, newsgroup--and reminisce about your favorite DS9 characters and moments. Think of these folks as extended family, when you get together you'll laugh, argue, cry, fight, make new friends, scream, stamp your feet, shove your obnoxious cousin Larry in the pool--well just think about the last family reunion you went to and you'll get the idea. But especially remember how much fun you had at that reunion, 'cause having fun is a requirement when Go To Page: 1 2
