changed for the better, some not. But they were all given room to develop into more than
who they were in the first show. Credit for that must go largely to the writers for allowing
their creations to grow up.
10. Multi-episode story arcs.
DS9 started its trend of the multi-part stories with the three-part opener for season two. They repeated the technique at the beginning of season six, again in ending the series, and to a lesser extent with every two-parter throughout the show's run. The arcs weren't always perfect of course, but what is? That so many of the arcs now serve as memorable main events in the DS9 timeline is a testimate to the overall strength of the storytelling contained within each of them.
