with the stories and characters, more often than not they either failed to do or blew the follow-up for their changes. Make Odo betray his friends? Risky, but awesome, idea. Resolve it with an off-screen discussion in a closet? You call that a resolution? Reveal Bashir to have been a changeling while the real Bashir was in a Dominion prison--great idea! Have next to no reaction from other characters or from Bashir himself over this--a thousand lashes with a wet noodle to whomever thought that would work! The writers were great at coming up with creative story twists, but it was so very frustrating when there were no follow-up stories for them.

This story single-handedly brought season seven's quality way down. I was embarrassed for the actors who were stuck trying to pull this off. The sad thing is no actor could've made this stinker of a story work. Only superb writing could've made it work, but the writers kept this story reduced to a good vs. evil cartoon level with no complexity or motives allowed. What on earth were they thinking?
