was driving his eighth Lady Ann Reed winner and his 23rd Super Night winner, the Valley Victor lass stopped the timer in 1:55.3. Trained by Roger Welch for owners Robert Rietvfeld and Paul Gibson of Illinois, Victor's Pursuit pushed her career earnings to $159,856.

"This is a special filly," Magee said. "This was one of the main reasons that I really wanted to be back in time for Super Night (Magee had been sidelined with an injury since mid-summer). I really didn't expect to be back here so anything that we do well tonight is really just a bonus. Roger (trainer Welch) gave me a lot of latitude with this filly and told me should could take some air, and she demonstrated tonight just how tough she was."

Victor's Pursuit took the lead at the 1:27.2 three-quarters, after pulling first over at the :29.2 quarter with Arcola (Tim Tetrick) on the lead. Silhouette Star (Dale Hiteman) then took the lead to the :57.4 half before yielding to the eventual winner. Unraced at two, Victor's Pursuit now has a 9-6-1 record in 20 starts.
