Gifts for the Dancer

Clothing & Jewelry

Matching outfits are always lots of fun. You can get a skirt for the lady and matching tie for the man, his and her matching vests, or skirt for her and matching shirt for him. Matching cowboy boots are a nice finishing touch.

For the ladies, a nice prairie skirt might be a nice switch especially if she usually wears the square dance skirt/petticoat combination.

For the men, try a bolo tie ($10 and up) and matching collar tips ($10 and up) for a change of pace if he usually wears the tie and scarf slide.

For the ladies, a new petticoat ($60 and up) in crystal or lame would be a real nice gift.

Gift certificates to your dancer's favorite dance apparel store, if available, takes the guesswork out of clothing sizes.

Just For the Fun of It!

Give your dancer a trip to the next national or state dance convention, complete with dance registration and hotel reservations.

What about a trip to a square or round dance resort, such as English Mountain, in the Smoky Mountains, Kirkwood Lodge, in the Ozarks, or the McCloud Country Dance Hall, in McCloud, CA?

Reserve a spot for a camping trip at Square Dance Center & Campground in Lolo, MT.

Try a different form of dance. Arrange private lessons or register for classes in ballroom dancing, round dancing, or jitterbug.

Arrange a private dance party. Basically you will need to rent a space for the dancing, hire a caller/cuer, arrange for food & drink, and invite 20 or more of your closest friends. Consider hiring a caller/cuer for a one-night stand if your dancer has lots of non-dancing friends.

For the Creative Among Us

For those blessed with sewing skills, you can make a petticoat bag, a shoe bag, ties, vests, skirts, shirts, blouses etc.

For those blessed with computer skills, you can create stationary, matching envelopes, and address labels, using your computer, inkjet printer, and clipart.

Make your own gift certificates or coupons if you can't buy them from the source. Present your dancer with a catalog and order form and have him/her return the order form to you so you can place the order and make the payment.

Dig out all of your dance photos and put together a memory book for your dancer, complete with dance theme. If you don't have photos, then start now. It's never too late to start making memories!
