(And Some Conventions to Test Your Mettle)
OK, you've ignored all of last month's advice (Surviving A Dance Convention-Part 1) and it's the next convention morning and you are really sorry that you didn't pay attention to that advice. After all, you came to have fun! Come prepared! Take some pain relievers, such as Advil or Tylenol, and take them faithfully as per the instructions. Bring an electric massager and massage all of the sore muscles, including feet and back. Then after the muscles have loosened, take a hot bath. If your hotel has a sauna or whirlpool, take advantage! Look at your highlighted schedule and attend your "must-do" activities and any spectator workshops and seminars. If you don't want to miss anything, then go to your secondary activities and watch instead of participating. Take a break and go shopping. Again, don't skip any meals and drink plenty of water. Avoid alcohol. Take an hour nap in the afternoon, just before dinner. Bring plenty of fresh clothing to change into. Bring at least two shirts/blouses and at least one skirt/slacks per convention day or take advantage of the hotel's laundry service after a few days. A fresh shirt or blouse after dancing all morning and afternoon can make a big difference in how you feel. Bring at least two pair of dance shoes with different heel heights. Change your shoes at least once during the day. Bring a pair of walking or aerobic shoes and a few casual outfits for casual workshops and dances. Take advantage of any casual dress codes. For the women, bring at least two or three petticoats and matching pettipants. Fresh pettipants and a change of shoe height before the evening events can energize. You can always launder your pettipants in the bathroom sink every night and let them dry in the shower for the next day. Items to Bring:
