Another fashion faux pas occurred last week when Randy Moss was fined $5000 by the NFL for wearing a hat. He wasn't fined because the hat clashed with his uniform, but he was fined for a stupid reason nonetheless.

The NFL continued its iron-fisted ways by fining Moss 5 grand for wearing a hat on the sidelines that was not authorized by the league. Translation of "authorized": If the NFL isn't making a quick buck off it, you can't wear it.

I thought all of the cameras at NFL games were for giving fans better views of the action, but I guess the horde of lenses are really for spying on the players on the sidelines. Big Brother is watching. Obviously there is no such thing as Individuality in the NFL.

Don't wear that. Don't hangout with that group of people. Don't dance in the endzone. Isn't it ironic that a league that frowns heavily upon its athletes for partaking in criminal activities is becoming more and more like a prison.

Whether it's umpires forcing a pitcher to take out earrings, or the NFL making a fuss over a hat, professional athletes are having the Individuality sucked right out of them.

Little diamond earrings are not a distraction to professional batters. Just because the NFL isn't making a few extra bucks off a Randy Moss hat does not give them the right to regulate what a player can put on his head when he is not in the game. $5000 is nothing to Moss, but it's the principle of the matter.

The fashion police have no place in pro sports. Unless, of course, if the players start carrying around pink purses to accessorize with their diamond earrings...
