2005 Events Calendar Continued


As promised, here is what's in store for the second half of this year's sports car racing schedule. The series' cover an area spanning from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Monterey, California, and finally end it off in Mexico City. But not to worry, there are many stops in between.

July:
The first major race of July finds the American Le Mans Series out in Lakeville, Connecticut. This Lime Rock race is to be held on the weekend of July 1st - 4th.

The following week will feature the drivers of the Trans-Am Series as they make their way back to the Molson Indy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The race is to be held at Exhibition Place during the weekend of July 8th - 10th.

For the July 15th - 17th weekend, there will be two major sports car events. The first of which is to be held at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Here the teams of the American Le Mans Series will take to the track in the beautiful wine country. The other event to be held this weekend will continue the Trans-Am Series sweep through Canada. This time they will visit the Edmonton City Centre Airport in Alberta.

The final weekend in July will be a busy one for sports car racing. In fact, all three major series' have a race scheduled for this weekend. The American Le Mans Series will stop at Portland International Raceway in Oregon, the Grand-Am Series will pay a visit to Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama and the Trans-Am Series will take to the streets of San Jose, California.

August:
Of the four major events that will take place in August, the first two will take place on the weekend from the 12th - 14th.

First the Grand-Am Series will undergo a Friday race at Watkins Glen International in New York while the Trans Am Series will wait until that Sunday to hit the streets of Denver, Colorado for their final race of the season.

The third major race in August will see Road America showcase the American Le Mans Series from Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin. This event is scheduled to happen during the weekend of August 19th - 21st.

The final race of August will be a Grand-Am Series event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. This 400 kilometer race is to be held on the August 26th - 27th weekend and is to be a Saturday race.

September:
The major sports car races in September are spread out over the month - each taking over its own weekend.
