Places of Power

Recently, I've been doing a lot of research at paranormal locations. Something that I've noticed in my paranormal research is that some locations have consistent (but limited) phenomena, while others seem to attract everything under the sun.

There are "haunted" sites that offer no visual cues while others present strong evidence for past, dramatic events.

Many of the haunted areas around Gettysburg look like every other town. Except for the monuments and markers--and of course the stories of hauntings--you might not know that anything paranormal goes on there.

At the other extreme, Stonehenge is a literally towering example of a site that has been a powerful for millennia. Likewise, the temple at Delphi--and similar monuments--help us to That understand why we are drawn to them. They have been the sites of spiritual and sometimes mystical experiences since the dawn of time.

How can we make the best use of these?

From a spiritual standpoint, when someone is going through extraordinary challenges or a crisis of faith, simply "getting grounded" may not summon the necessary power the to move ahead in life with confidence. Perhaps this is when we should seek out places of power that resonate with us as individuals.

We know that many churches and places of worship have been built upon Pagan sites. Sometimes, I think that the sense of sacredness that we feel in very old churches and cathedrals may come more from the location and its energy, rather than the building itself, its denomination, or its clergy.

Likewise, when we visit churches that were built on sites without a spiritual history, the sense of sacredness may seem lacking. Again, this may not reflect anything more than its physical location and relatively brief history as a spiritual center.

So, when you need to gather additional strength to cope with life's many challenges, there is nothing disloyal about meditating or praying in a church that is not otherwise part of your faith.

When a life issue or challenge is spiritually based, you may need to seek out a greater place of power.

For example, if it is an issue of healing, look for a place with healing power. It doesn't have to be Lourdes; there are many other sites that are famous for miraculous healings.

If it's a relationships issue, perhaps you need the energy of the place where long-standing, favorable treaties and agreements have been created. (And, I don't mean to be flippant, but this may be a local golf course.)
