Many years ago, a popular Beach Boys' song announced, "I'm picking up good vibrations..."
The famous German composer, Richard Wagner said, "I am convinced that there are universal currents of Divine Thought vibrating the ether everywhere and that any who can feel these vibrations is inspired."
Today, vibrations seem to be a hot subject in spiritual fields. This also relates to our recent discussion about string theory. In two recent books, Ask And It Is Given: Learning To Manifest Your Desires, by Abraham-Hicks, and The Power of Intention: Learning to Co-Create Your World Your Way, by Dr. Wayne Dyer, we see consistent recommendations to consciously resonate -- achieve harmony and, perhaps, an inner vibration -- with what you want to bring into your life. As Abraham-Hicks says, "The Law of Attraction states that all forms of matter and energy are attracted to that which is of a like vibration." In a way, I'm reminded of the old advice, "Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have." Or, using an Abraham-Hicks analogy: It's like tuning a radio: If you want to enjoy a certain type of music, first you need to adjust the radio setting so that you can receive a particular station. You won't get Oldies 96.5 if your radio is set to Heavy Metal 103.9! This radio concept isn't new in New Age spirituality. For example, in the 1980s book, Personal Power Through Awareness, Sanaya Roman channeled similar information. (Ms. Roman and her partner, Duane Packer, share related concepts in another book, Creating Money, excerpted here.) So, taking string theory -- described in my earlier article -- to a more practical level, what are you doing right now to improve your internal vibrations, and the "invisible messages" that you send out into the world? If your personal radio is tuned to the Self-Pity or the Nothing-Is-Going-Right-Today station, it's unlikely that you'll find yourself dancing to Wealth and Abundance. But, changing habitual internal vibrations is easier said than done. American writer Christopher Morley said, "In every man's heart there is a secret nerve that answers to the vibrations of beauty." I think that beauty is a good place to start. And, with spring -- and its bounty of colors -- approaching on our calendars, Nature is about to provide us with remarkable beauty to stir our souls.
