COMPASSIONATE HEARTS

The most wonderful aspect of living on this earthly plane is to experience the variety of human emotions. As human beings we use them in every aspect of our lives while we live in this world. All of us live with our hearts during this lifetime. The positive emotions help others as well as ourselves as we build our Karma in this lifetime.

Practicing unconditional love can happen in so many ways. As individuals we demonstrate this wonderful attribute on a day to day basis. One of those forms of unconditional love is compassion. According to "Webster Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary" compassion is "the sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it." Recently I was on the receiving end of this beautiful emotion called compassion. Family, friends and co-workers have offered their hearts for Nick and me over the past few weeks as we grieve over the loss of our child.

In the previous article entitled "Heart of Hearts" I informed all of you about my pregnancy with Adam. However I am sorry to say that he has passed. Through out our loss, our family, friends, and co-workers came to our aid.

In a variety of ways they expressed their condolences. Some would call to see how we were doing or we received a card in the mail. The letters and cards expressed a quick cheer or a sympathetic note. Sometime I would come home from an afternoon's outing to find a gift at the front door. Once in awhile we would get a surprise visit which would bring a smile to our faces while it distracted us from our hurtful thoughts. All of these expressions of love helped to heal our heart. Nick and I are very grateful for all that they have done for us.

After personally experiencing these wonderful expressions of love I realize just how tender the human heart is. I am reminded that it is capable so much

Positive emotions are a wonderful aspect of our personality which we all possess. Think about it for a moment if we were to expose that side of ourselves this world would be so much more beautiful. Compassion is a beautiful feeling. After years of giving both personally and professionally it is weird to be on the receiving end of it.

Although Adam was only with us for a short period of time I learned valuable lessons from him. I will treasure and remember them always. He was my heart of heart but he taught me about a compassionate heart.
