There is a diversity of seminars that are being taught where a person can become a shaman or a witch within a weekend. These courses are intriguing and inviting, who would not want to delve into this part of their mystical personality. They provide promises to reveal secrets on how to become a shaman or witch. This is a false statement because shamanism and Wicca are a religion. It is impossible to become either one of those two within a weekend. It takes years for an individual to learn all the techniques and rules that are associated with it.
The only positive attribute is the fact that it can be considered an introductory course for something that you may be interested in. In order to reach your potential it will take years of thorough reading and researching. For you see it is a way of life for those that undertake this form of study. Your spirit will guide you in the right directions while you develop. In order to understand the point that I am trying to make. I will briefly break down the type of study that goes in to the shamanism and the Wicca beliefs. Shamanism has been around for centuries where it is practiced in a diversity of cultures. According to Harper's Encyclopedia of Mystical and Paranormal Experience shamanism is..."in which an adept enters an altered state of consciousness and travels to non- worldly realities in order to heal, divine communicate with the spirits of the dead and perform other supernatural feats." A shaman is capable of the following abilities: 1. seeing spirits and souls then communicating to them. 2. Flights to heaven and descending to the underworlds 3. Shape-shifting when going on a flight 4. Healing 5. Prophecy 6. Controlling the elements. This takes a lifetime because there are many lessons and experiences that must be learned along the way as they connect with the Earth Mother and Nature. In witchcraft, this can be referred to as a religion (Wicca) or craft. It may seem easy to enter into this but it takes years of study. First of all the person needs to be initiated into the craft than will advance through degrees. As the individual does this they are trained in the magical craft. Most importantly in the Wicca religion the person reveres nature and all her life forms. Classes are a wonderful introduction into a fascinating field of study but by no means are it the end. For example, I took a few classes in psychic development. The classes were an introduction into the realm of psychic phenomena. That was 16 and ½ years ago, today I am still learning and growing in this field. It did not answer all of my questions but it did begin my quest for knowledge. Go To Page: 1 2
