What A Great Experience


This will have to brief...I am up to my eyeballs in work in what has become the busiest August of my life. I am supervising the World of Work Experience and Exploration (WOWEE) summer program for youth with developmental disabilities. WOWEE is a pilot project of the Special Needs Network.

Halfway into the program, I know already that this summer will influence my actions for many years to come. It is incredible to see how much can be accomplished when children with developmental disabilities are given the opportunity to apply themselves in a community setting. My experience with the WOWEE program has served to solidify my belief in community-based learning programs.

I leave you with the following: if it is not applied learning, then what kind of learning is it?
