Dealing with curves and your spec. ed. kids..no matter what age

My computer has been down - off and on for quiet a few months. My computer doc. finally figured out that the hard drive was going south and needed steps are being taken. As an adult with Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyslexia, and other learning disabilites, I don't often deal with curves like this very well. I am VERY dependent on my computer. I moderate 2 email lists, get mail from several places, have 4 web sites, and just like surfing the internet in general. I also need to have access to change the links on this site, and I volunteer on another serice. With my computer down, my sites have been neglected terribly. I needed to take down the graphics that took up a lot of space and made the site take too long to load. I am using my husband's computer right now, but it is a lap top, and it;s just not MINE. I know I should be glad I have access at all, and I am. The other side of that is I've had trouble with my computer for so long.......I just get frustrated and it spills over into my regular life. I get irritable with people close to me, I can't seem to focus sometimes, and it feels like it will never end! A new computer is not in my budget, and sometimes it just takes a while to find out what is going on....with whatever it is! It could be a car that doesn't work right, it could be something in your house,,,, it could be ANYTHING that impeads life from flowing like it normally does.

When a car is in the shop, and you suddenly don't have the freedom to go anywhere - do whatever - and you have to make arrangements to get it to the shop and then pick it up - IT IS A PAIN! It interrupts YOUR LIFE! It is VERY frustrating! Most of you know how this feels, and most of those have learned how to deal with it.

NOW - put that kind of frustration in a kid. A kid that has not leanred any control - and doesn't see the need to. All they want - is what they want. They do not take 'no' for an answer very well, they don't see why they can't do whatever it is they can't do, and they don't like it. Many kids who have experienced so much failure in the rest of their life, just don't have the patience or understanding to realize that sometimes these things just happen.
