Isn't My child special too?

to evaluate these kids could have been used to help the student aide. But she was not coded so she could not get the services that the special needs children received. I worked for 7 years as an inclusion facilitator helping to include students in the mainstream classes. I did my job because that was what was required but for part of it I did not approve. Mainstreaming ALL CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IS WRONG! Some of them should not be mainstreamed. Children who are violent, children who disrupt class children with severe medical problems should NOT be mainstreamed. I have some wonderful stories of successful mainstreaming, and many people tell the stories about successful mainstreaming, but what about the bad ones! There are a lot more than anyone knows because they are not talked about. I know from talking to other parents that there are MANY of you who share the feelings I have about Mainstreaming but feel afraid to say what they really think for fear of offending people or sounding like we are being prejudiced again special needs people. That is not the case here. I have devoted my entire career to special needs children. I just wish that the school would start to look at the big picture that the Special Education movement has created for everyone. I also think that homeschool is going to become more and more the wave of the future because of this.
