Madrid has a vast number of hotel rooms - around 50 000. With such a large number, there is always somewhere appropriate for the visitor to stay. Madrid accounts for well over a third of all the luxury hotels in Spain. You can pamper yourself at The Ritz as long as money is no obstacle. Otherwise, if you don't mind sharing a bathroom, you can stay in one of the many budget hotels.
This article discusses some of the different places you can stay at while visiting Madrid. It is just a guide to help make your search that little bit easier, but remember, nothing replaces experiencing the real thing for yourself! Luxury accommodation The Ritz: You will find the bedrooms and suites here elegant in style, with the public rooms grand in size and appearance. There are huge mirrors, frescoes, marble floors and handmade carpets. Service, of course, is excellent. The address is Plaza de la Lealtad 5. The Santo Mauro: The Santo Mauro is a century-old French-style mansion that has been carefully restored with magnificent furnishings. The restaurant was once a lovely old library. It is located at the Calle Zurbano 36. The Villa Magna: Located at the Paseo de la Castellana 22, this place is a favourite with celebrities from around the world. Some of the suites come complete with their own sauna and white grand pianos. Now how is that for luxury? Moderately priced accommodation The Mayorazgo: At Calle Flor Baja 3 is the Mayorazgo. The accommodation here is stylish and of an international flavour. It provides a significant degree of anonymity. The Alcala: This hotel is well established and reasonably priced. Many of the rooms have been refurbished and it is near The Prado Museum at Calle Alcala 66. The Hotel Monaco: At Calle Barbieri 5, this hotel is unusual in that many of the rooms look different from one another. In case you are interested, this may somewhat be explained by the fact that in its heyday in the 1920s this hotel was a fashionable brothel. Budget accommodation Hostal La Macarena: Located at Cava de San Miguel 8, this hostel is tucked away in a street full of ancient bars and restaurants. It is near the Plaza Mayor. Hostal La Torre: This hostel is bright and very clean. It has large twin rooms with good-sized balconies. Its address is Calle Espoz y Mina 8-3. Hostal Corbero: At Calle Cervantes 34-1, this hostel has small double rooms, which include a bathroom and television. Go To Page: 1 2
