Zion National Park

Zion Canyon topo

Short, Tough, but Awe-inspiring:

Angels' Landing is considered the penultimate Zion Canyon hike, though it's not for the faint of heart. The trail is a tough 2.5 mile grunt up 1488 feet. There are abrupt dropoffs along narrow switchbacks, ending on a spectacular buttress high above the valley. The last half-mile is optional, following a narrow ridge lined with safety chains.

Despite the fear factor, hundreds of people undertake this journey to the angels each day - it is a religious experience. I recommend planning an early morning or late afternoon hike (bring a flashlight, just in case) to beat the heat and crowds. Carry lots of water and energy snacks.

Other Attractions
