Mapping Inner Journeys

Whether you have any creative abilities, or not, taking the time to map your Inner Landscape will result in some very helpful information. You can do this by drawing a representation of a map, like those assignments we used to get in Geography class. Or you can simply make a list of the places you've been and note down the direction, season, and events that take place there. Most of this information will be contained within your journal.

When you first start journey and have had some success entering and interacting during one you can ask for an Overview. Simply state, at the onset of a journey, that you want to get an overview of the landscape. Or you can fly up as high as you are able and look down to discover the shape of the landmass. Once you have this information jot it down or draw it, on a piece of paper. Make sure you draw it large enough so that you can make notations on the map of any place you visit. You can make up symbols to represent things. A simple group of houses for a village, a gathering of trees for a forest, blue lines for water, brown lines for paths, etc. You can then note the name of the place, or make a key at the bottom of the map where you can note it down.

The map will help you keep track of your travels, where you are and where you are headed next. Sometimes you'll be working on a series of journeys that are progressing in a particular order and, all of a sudden, you'll get lost or pulled into a seemingly unrelated journey. If you have a map, you'll be able to get back to where you were once the new information is assimilated. The reason you might get hauled off course is that some new event might be happening in your life and the Inner World, your guides, want to help you with it. Once that is done, you'll be able to get back to your journey series, and that will be more easily accomplished if you have a map.

Sometimes the shape of your Inner Landscape alone will give you a clue about something you're working on. If you're ill, the land mass might take the shape of the body organ that is effected the most by the illness. Or the color that you see might be related to a specific chakra. You might be walking a path and come to an abyss that blocks your forward progress and later understand that the reason you were blocked is because there was a huge separation between your conscious and subconscious mind levels. There will be clues everywhere, learn to decipher them.
