An Arthurian Journey© Cheryl D. Tracy
In this article I'd like to share a journey that I took into a tarot card. It is the fool card of the Arthurian deck designed by Caitlin and John Matthews. This is my favorite deck and was specifically designed for taking journeys. But to show you how it works, I thought maybe you'd enjoy reading one of my adventures. The card is pictured with this article.
After relaxing I 'stepped into' the card and met with the Seeker Fool who told me his name was Barinthus. He looked me up and down and told me it was odd to have a female quester that dresses like a man. I grinned and figured there weren't a lot of women in here who wore jeans and T-shirts. I looked around and saw we were standing on a cliff and that there was a rainbow attached to the end of the cliff. Barinthus told me I'd have to use the Rainbow Bridge if I wanted to get anywhere else. I walked over to it and could see right through the pastel colors of the rainbow to the rocks and trees below. It was a long drop and the bridge didn't look solid enough to hold me. "I don't quite believe that you come from another world reality," he told me, seeing my apprehension. "But since you're here, I guess that's fine. Maybe our beliefs are mistaken." "What happens if I fall?" "You will return to your world reality." Two people stepped up then, apparently they'd climbed the mountain to get here. One stepped on the rainbow path and vanished. Another stepped on it and fell through. I looked over the edge and saw him disappear before he hit the ground. A bird flew around my head, fluttered down to the path, and tried to land, but fell through. It caught itself and flew away after making surprised and disgruntled noises. I put one foot out and it went right through the path. . I looked back at Barinthus not feeling any safer about the idea of stepping on to 'nothing'. "You have to step onto the path with your whole self," he told me. "Only that will make it real." I took a breath, grinned, and jumped off the cliff onto the path. It held. Not being a fan of heights I got a little dizzy and wobbly legged, but still managed to lightly bounce on the rainbow. It was solid. I looked toward it's end and saw that it split into four branches, each going in a different direction. Satisfied, I returned to the cliff and Barinthus led me to where he'd made a small camp. I watched him move and sensed an odd energy coming from him. He seemed more present than I was. And, looking around the camp area, I saw that this wasn't a fresh camp. It had been here for a long time. Go To Page: 1 2
