Now let's start that journey through the system and see what happens.
As you're reading, relax and allow the words to influence your imagination and higher thinking. Make sure both feet are on the ground because this helps you to stay grounded. We're going to start at the bottom and work our way up through the seven chakras. All you have to do is read, let your mind fill with any ideas or images, and - if you want to - jot those things down.
Think of your butt. That's that thing that you're sitting on. Somewhere in there is the root, or base chakra. Visually, it looks like a red disk, or a frisby, and you're sitting directly one on it. This center governs your understanding of the physical plane. It sits there and spins...did I mention that it spins? What direction do you think yours spins in? See that red disk and notice if it's going to the left or the right. Or maybe it isn't spinning at all. Maybe it's still, or moving very slowly. All of these things are clues about you and your reality.
Some of the information stored here is the fight or flight response, adrenal glands, kidneys, and the spinal column. All of these things are associated with the body, movement, and the tactile senses. If you have trouble in regards to will power, energy, expression, or anything else related to life, this is the area to examine because it supplies the body with physical vitality. Its color is red.
To go here you might move your attention to the base of your spine, or the center of the area you're sitting on! Visualize a round, spinning vortex that is red and slide your awareness into it. Here you might gather information on your fears or the way you handle living on the physical plane. In East Indian tradition it relates to Foundation, the element Earth, and is called Muladhara. Caroline Myss, in her wonderful book Anatomy of the Spirit associates this chakra with inherited family patterns, authority, superstitions, personal codes of honor, and family traditions.
