Emerging and Ascending

Moving Energetically from Spring to Summer

As spring moves into summer and we begin to think of warmth and outdoor activities, we need to move out of our winter cocoons and emerge into sunlight. Jamie Sams, in her book Earth Medicine, shows us how we connect to the natural world, and how we can see ourselves and our journeys reflected in nature. She says:

The emergence of the butterfly from the cocoon is a miracle of the natural world. Every time a human being watches that miracle of transformation, there is a change in that human's perception of life, change, and rebirth.

The chrysalis is the looking-within place that nurtures any human being's sense of becoming. In order to become our visions, we must go to the deepest core of who and what we are--observing everything with wonder. Then the leap of faith that brings emergence does not contain fear, but is based in personal trust and knowing.

If it is time for you to take the leap of faith in some situation in your life, take heart. The emergence of your new potential is at hand. Going backward never works out. If you are afraid, list everything you can trust about yourself. It works! - Jamie Sams in Earth Medicine

Now is the time for us to emerge from our shells, our snug little cocoons that isolate us from our fellow creatures and keep us from letting our spirits spread their wings and ascend. Too long have we held ourselves earth-bound, provincial and limited. Now is the time for us to become citizens of the galaxy, opening ourselves beyond our tiny solar system. Now is the time to help our whole world ascend to a higher level as we, ourselves, ascend.

If this is your first journey, you may want to begin with the Basic Meditation script, inserting the following where it says, "Insert any work you wish here."

And so I'd like to ask you to imagine an egg. Any egg. You might imagine a tiny blue robin's egg, or a huge ostrich egg with its thick, hard shell. You might imagine a tortoise egg, buried in the sand with its rubbery shell, or a frog's egg, translucent and floating in water. Whatever kind of egg you imagine, notice it in all its detail. Take note of its texture, perhaps even reaching out to touch the surface. If it's out in the open somewhere, notice how it reflects the light. If its buried or floating or simply sitting in space all by itself, notice its surroundings.
