Read aloud and record this script on tape or digital recorder to use at any time for relaxation and meditation. You may also use this basic mediation script with other scripts that I will add from time to time.
First, I want you to stand up and take a good, complete stretch. You may feel the desire to yawn. Do it! That's fine. Now just sit in the chair and relax, close your eyes and take a nice deep full breath and exhale completely all the way to the bottom of your lungs. All out... Do it again now. Just relax and let it all out. One more time, and this time hold your breath when you have filled your lungs with clean, refreshing relaxing air, hold it in. Keep your eyes closed. Now let your breath out slowly and feel yourself relaxing all over. Sit or lie quietly, with your arms relaxed at your sides or lying uncrossed on your abdomen. Your legs should be straight and not crossed. You are in complete control at every level of mind. Should you choose to terminate this session, you need only to open your eyes. Now imagine that you are standing at the top of a long, spiral staircase. It descends into a pale blue mist. It may be that you will see the staircase in great detail or, rather than having a visual image, you may simply feel yourself descending. You may hear the tread of your footsteps, or feel a downward motion in your body, or you may simply hear my words and imagine the experience in some other manner. Each person's experience is different, and that's okay, and every experience is valid. You take a step downward, into the mists. Your skin tingles as you are enveloped and caressed by the mists. Down and down, you descend, going deeper and deeper. I am going to count from twenty to one. With each descending number, imagine that you are moving down the staircase and into the mist. At the count of one, you will step from the staircase and stand in a large chamber. Twenty (pause), nineteen (pause), eighteen, moving down the staircase and into the mist, down through the mists of time... Seventeen (pause), sixteen (pause), fifteen, moving down into the mist... As you descend, you feel yourself growing more relaxed. Down and down you go, feeling more and more and more relaxed. You are surrounded by mist, which soothes and relaxes you. It swirls around you, the colors gently changing from blue to white to gold and back again to blue, the colors swirling and shifting.
