The Grammy'sYup, its that time of year again. The old heads at the Recording Academy are about to honor today's hottest artists. Unlike the AMAs which are based on fan appeal or the BillBoard Awards, based on radio play and record sales - the Grammy's has traditionally stood as THE official nod from the Academy that you can sang! That's right sang, not sing. Because anyone can sing, right? When the Grammy's come on tomorrow some of our favorite R&B artists will be performing. As a matter of fact, it seems like more R&B artists than usual are included in this year's telecast. Among them will be Patti Labelle -performing Lady Marmalade with Pop stars Christina Aguliera, Mya, Pink and Lil Kim; India Arie, Brian McKnight, Al Green, and Alicia Keys. Over the years the Academy has tried to override its stuffy image with quirky hosts - this year it will be comedian Jon Stewart; more and more dazzling performances; and the selection of only the hottest artists and acts on the market. Despite this year's ugly battle with Dick Clark's AMAs over Michael Jackson - the Grammy Awards holds steadfast as the pinnacle of acknowledgement for an artists' musical talents. So grab some popcorn - lots of it, the Grammy's are a minium of three hours long - a cold beverage and sit on the edge of your seat to await the results. But don't hold your breath waiting on the R&B relevant categories - they're almost always done off-camera.
