Email Software is Just For Email Right?

Back in the old days, we used command line emailers like Pine and Elm. Even more recent is Pegasus and Eudora mail clients. Today we have web ready email clients such as Eudora Pro, Microsoft Outlook, and Netscape Mail.

I'm of the opinion that for the most part nobody really gives a hoot which mail client they use as long as they're able to send and receive email pain-free.

Today's Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, and Netscape all provide us with feature that allows us to view web pages from within our email. WOW!

The problem we encounter now is that newsletter (ezine or e-newsletters) writers and the kids with the best toys forget that not everyone has the greatest and latest technology. So, they push these web pages through email and just don't realize that all most people see is a bunch of html code gibberish.

I want to see web pages in Netscape Navigator or MS Internet Explorer - NOT in my emailer! Hey don't waste our time! We're in the business of marketing our products and services. Who wants to much around with email all day? Here are a few of my lightweight, easy to use picks:

Eudora Light is the trimmed down version of Eudora Pro and is probably the most popular client on the internet. This product was my itroduction to email with a graphical user interface. Highlights include a powerful find feature, message filtering, and drag-and-drop text editing. This latest version also includes a new security precaution to help warn users when they are about to launch executables that may not have been scanned for viruses. Powerful and easy to use interface and the kicker is that it's FREE! Check out http://www.eudora.com

Pegasus Mail is a must have for the beginner. It takes you step-by-step through your email setup process. This full-fledged mail program includes many useful features, like a spelling checker. Super if you're new to email! See http://www.download.com This is a FREEBIE as well!

QuickMail Pro ($100) is a very good email client for most users. Super for the SOHO business owner. It offers background sending and receiving, stylized text, a spelling checker, ticker-style mail notification, custom forms, multiple address books, and many other unique timesaving features.

See http://tucows.phoenix.net/mail95.html for other mail clients. Download and test their functionality and ease of use. If it's bloatware with unnecessary features, I give it a thumbs down.

MORAL: FIGHT bloatware by using your standard email client, like Eudora Light (turn off that darn html option will ya?) or Pegasus Mail. And remember, no html-enhanced emails ladies and gents.
