What teachers and parents particularly need is more information that is solid, valid and reliable in order to support the young people in their care who may be struggling with depression. I am strongly suggesting that we all arm ourselves with information from a variety of sources, including young people who have first hand experience with depression and can enlighten us on what methods best support them. I am including here a list of websites both on general information about depression in young children and the on-going issue of drugs and their effectiveness. Let us keep up with the research and reporting that is going on, examine it all critically and make informed and rational decisions about how to support our young people.
