But let's face it, besides Marlena the murderer and that endless nonsense, what else is going on? And what if you've tired of Marlena the murderer? Was the sweeps attraction supposed to be Deidre Hall endlessly in an orange jumpsuit? I suppose the attraction was Marlena's death, but if you think she's really gone for good, raise your hand. Yeah, I didn't think so. At least on Passions there is a lot of different endless nonsense even if most of it is just that, nonsense. And yet, as long as in some fashion Julian's life and love is on the line there is something worth being invested in and that is more than I can say for anything on Days anymore.
Meanwhile are ABC soaps even pretending like it is sweeps? Okay, there is the baby switch story, but it has lost nearly all of its' steam on One Life to Live and it is the only interesting thing on All My Children. What exactly are the writers thinking with this Erica story, if it is fair to call it that. Have they decided since Lucci has an Emmy now they can just humiliate her and destroy her character with each passing day? I care deeply about OLTL's Viki and her health, but I've always found Starr to be a brat, so I had no interest in watching her get into trouble and I'm stunned producers think a majority of the audience would. The baby switch and Adriana story only has going for it the fact that Dorian is involved and I'm wondering when they are going to pick up. And those are just the stories I think that could be salvaged with a lot of hard work. GH, as always, is a bit of loose cannon. I suppose you could say every day is a sweeps day since GH never changes its focus, all mob, all the time. There are rarely any major differences, nothing that really picks up storyline wise, but there have been some intriguing pairings as of late. If you can suffer through the repeat of someone carrying Sonny's child and the childish behavior with Georgie, Emily, and Carly, then perhaps you can appreciate Skye and Luke and/or Jax and Tracey's interactions.
