Downtown Riverside is such a wonderful site to see. It still has that old charm of years gone by. With its quaint shops, eateries, fantastic architectural designs, and plants that seem to line the storefronts, you can't help but feel like you have stepped into another place and time.
Located in the heart of the Inland Empire, in Downtown Riverside, the Mission Inn's Festival of Lights (http://www.missioninn.com/lights/index.h... a must see! There are literally over one million lights on display at this historic hotel! They even have Santa and elf character on display hanging out windows, standing in the walkways, and yes even on the roof! Last year they had Christmas Carolers every Thursday night starting, Nov. 26 and also on the 23 and 25 of December! And from what I am told, there is always some kind of treat for the hotel's visitors at this time of year. So call today at 1-800-843-7755 to find out what they have planned for this year! If you choose to stay at this historical hotel, stop by the Kid Zone (http://www.kidzone.org/funstuff_walk-tou... and take a walking tour of Downtown! Then visit the Historic Courthouse (http://www.co.riverside.ca.us/sheriff/gr... However, if you choose to hold off until February you can enjoy a real treat! All centered around Downtown Riverside, which happens to be the home of Mission Inn! Dickens Festival Days (http://www.pe.net/dickens/info.shtml) are February 1-3, 2002. "Many exciting activities and events for all ages are planned. Plays, street performers, food vendors, educational workshops, musical performances, and exhibits are just a few of the things being featured." states the Dickens Staff. It's absolutely loads of fu-n-n-n!!!! We did it last year and had so much fun! People came dressed in costume, and the accents to boot! We saw descendants of Dickens, played old time games, listened to carolers, heard Dickens Plays, and ate so much food our stomaches felt like they would bust! Then there is the Orange Blossom Festival which takes place in April!(http://www.orangeblossomfestival.org/) It can get a little crowded, so if you don't like crowds, I would advise you to stay clear. If you don't mind crowds, then the kids will have a blast! There is usually tons of food, carnival rides, contests, music and shopping galore! Want to see more or learn more about Riverside? Stop by the Convention Center (http://www.riversidecb.com/) So what are you waiting for???? Need a vacation? Need a place to relax and get a real treat? Stop by Downtown Riverside today! You won't be disappointed. Go To Page: 1 |
