California tends to have a lot of concrete buildings, and a fast paced lifestyle, so it’s no wonder that they value their parks! Every once in a while, we can all use a break from the hustle and bustle of life and what better way to do it then relaxing and basking in nature?
Are you a nature freak? Want to take a vacation exploring the parks of California? Then you will want to stop by http://cal-parks.ca.gov where you can get an up close look at what California has to offer. You can also call ahead to 1-800-444-7275 to reserve your campsite today! And now is the time to go because they have dropped park fees down by fifty percent! (http://cal-parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page... According to the State Parks Association, California parks are the most visited tourist attraction! And why shouldn’t they be? Just marvel over the natural wonders of California and you can see why. What other state offers beaches, desert, mountains, and snow within driving distance of each other? For example, when we lived in Corona, we could drive 1 ½ hours to the desert, go in another direction and drive 2 hours to the beach, and drive 2 hours in another direction, up some winding roads and end up in the snow! It was "heaven on earth," according to my husband. Need an idea of what the state parks offer? Check out these clips: In Ana Nuevo State Reserve, (http://cal-parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page... you can see the largest mainland breeding colony in the world for the northern elephant seal! Now honestly, what child would not love to see one of these up close and personal? The Gold Rush may be over, but children can still experience what it was like by visiting some of California’s most historic mining areas (http://cal-parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page... Children can also join the Junior Ranger Programs (http://cal-parks.ca.gov/education/jr_ran... in which they explore and learn about each park. Some parks have self-guided programs which require the parents involvement (all guides are downloadable from the site) while other programs are one hour long and are presented by a Park Ranger. The cost? The Junior Ranger Program is offered free of charge to visitors who have already paid park entrance or camping fees. And if your child is under seven years of age, you can check to see if there is a Cub Ranger Program! Have I peeked your interest? I hope so! On a side note: One of the reasons that I love this site is because of the articles and jam packed information it provides throughout each link! You can spend an entire day here and walk away wanting to visit California, NOW. Go To Page: 1
