California is known for any activity that involves water! Downtown Long Beach, is no exception. Long Beach has and continues to be renovated to meet and keep the demands of tourists.
You can spend a day shopping, laying around on the beach, or sailing the ocean. In the evening, you can experience night life like never before! A great place to stay is Hotel Queen Mary (http://www.queenmary.com) which is a historical landmark filled with legends of ghosts. There are 365 staterooms, some of which overlook the ocean. Before the Queen Mary used to be a paying attraction, we, as kids, would roam up and down the corridors, listening for ghosts. For fine dining, stop by Parker's Lighthouse. I will never forget the first time my mother took me here, it is one of the finest places to eat and the Captain's Platter is the best meal in the house! I was fascinated with the fact that I could sit at a table, right next to the ocean and see the beautiful lights that lit up the harbor! 435 Shoreline Village Drive #1 Shoreline Village, 562-432-6500 Or take a dinner cruise along the Hornblower (http://www.hornblower.com) The first time we took our children on a dinner cruise, they didn't seem to thrilled, but as we entered the ocean and the meal came, they begin to change their outlook on things, in fact, they cannot wait to go again! The best part for any child of course, is hanging out on the beach, playing in the water and building sand castles. Of course, the older kids may disagree.
